Between Redhill and Cape Point is Plateau Road stretching
from the west of the Peninsula to the east along the base
of the Mountains. It is the perfect drive to take, especially
if the wind is blowing or you are feeling a little lazy.
You can you take a guided tour around the Ostrich Farm or
visit the well-known Good Hope Nursery where you can meander
around the landscaped indigenous nursery looking out across
the Cape Peninsula National Park and the oceans beyond.
Stone carvers boast their wares at the fork just outside Scarborough
at the entrance to the Cape Farm House. We encourage everyone
to walk around the stone park just to see the fascinating
sculptures. Whilst there, perhaps pop into the Cape Farm House
for a bite and refreshments under the Oak trees and magnificent
surroundings, and then browse around the little shop for some
interesting presents.
The scenery is breathtaking. There is no need for us to sing
any more praises for the spectacular Cape Point Nature Reserve
where one can indulge in the views, fynbos, space and ruggedness
of the place. Local residents visit the park regularly as
the walks are so enjoyable. One
thing I can personally recommend is to experience the power
of the wind along the walkway below the lighthouse and watch
the Cormorants fly on thermals.
