Scarborough is a place to retreat to when you are exhausted from all your shopping. However you don’t even have to leave Scarborough to go on a shopping spree. The village is full of artistic and industrious people.

We like to support local traders – local is lekker – who sell pottery, custom made guitars, African artifacts, art, jewellery, drums, bags and clothing, organic vegetables, beauty therapy, web design, – all these artists and traders operate from different shops around the peninsula, but if for some reason you bump into them on the beach, you never know, you may just get a better price. Details of local traders are available at each accommodation or you can consult the notice board for details.

By supporting retailers who acquire merchandise from China, we are indirectly sanctioning the inhumane activities of their suppliers. It does not seem right what is happening. Are the itinerant shop-a-holics, seduced by high quality at a good price, aware of such things – at what price?

There are some amazing shops and galleries so take the time to browse and enjoy what’s on offer. People are very friendly and interactive. You’ll be surprised what you can discover.

So... Don’t just stick to the Main Streets, go exploring, and follow that passageway.... follow your hunch. Keep it fresh!
