LICHEN ROCK ON BEACH
ROAD is owned by the de Combes family, who for the
past 40 years have lived in Scarborough.
Steven and Juliette have traveled extensively around sub-equitorial
Africa collecting artefacts, which have appeared in numerous
shops, exhibitions and private collections throughout the
world. Their interiors and artefacts have appeared in two
coffee table books; South Africa - Private Worlds
by Solvi Dos Santos (ISBN1-84091-047-X) and Seeing Red
by Stephanie Hoppen (ISBN1-903116-24-4).
Juliette, who also takes on photographic commissions for portraiture,
private collections and functions, was responsible for a lot
of the photographs featured in this web site.
They are currently in the process of putting together a shop
at The Cape Farm at the foot of Redhill next to the stone
carvers - due to open in February 2006. Watch this space!
Note from Juliette and Steven – “Enjoy
this amazing wonderful place. We’ve been living here
for years, and each day brings new discoveries, new adventures
and a truly wholesome way of life. We ask that you respect
the speed limit - Tortoises, snakes, guinea fowl, frogs, otters,
baboons, buck and of course surfers, children and people like
you and me all need to safely use the road, and it is with
your patience and respect that this can happen – Thank
you!”
